4-star PG Marcus Johnson, former Ohio State pledge, commits to South Carolina

Marcus Johnson, a four-star point guard in the 2026 class, has committed to South Carolina.
The 6-foot-2 senior out of Garfield Heights (OH) was committed to Ohio State for over two years, before decommitting from the program in late October.
Marcus is the younger cousin of South Carolina senior guard Meechie Johnson, who is currently averaging over 23 points a game for the Gamecocks.
During Marcus’ junior season at Garfield Heights, he averaged 29.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game.

Johnson is ranked as the No. 48 overall player in the 2026 class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. He’s also the No. 8 ranked point guard in the country.
Johnson is the reigning Ohio Mr. Basketball winner. Johnson and his father, Sonny, made history as the first father-son duo to ever earn the Mr. Basketball honor in Ohio. Sonny won the award back in 1998 while starring at Garfield Heights before continuing his college career at Cleveland State and Ohio University.
