4-star WR Jayden Petit decommits from Wisconsin
Naples (Fla.) four-star wide receiver Jayden Petit has decommitted from Wisconsin, he announced on Wednesday.
Petit had been pledged to the Badgers since June, when he chose them over Notre Dame, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Miami (FL), Texas A&M, Penn State, Auburn, Indiana, UCLA, Florida State, Missouri, and more.
“I want to begin by expressing my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to pursue my dream of playing college football at the highest level. After a great deal of thought, prayer, and honest reflection, I have made the very difficult decision to decommit from the University of Wisconsin,” he posted on Twitter. “This was not an easy choice. I want to personally thank Coach Fickell, Coach Reid, Coach Grimes, Zach Zilm, Ethan Russo, and Pat Lambert for believing in me, investing in me, and taking the time to build a genuine relationship throughout this process. Every conversation, every visit, and every moment spent learning about Wisconsin meant a great deal to me and my family.
… I also want to thank Badger Nation. As well as give a special thanks to Badgers Media guys such as Ryan Harings, Jake K, Jon McNamara, Nick Osen, Evan Flood, Justin and Rajeev. The love, support, and excitement you have shown me since the day I received the offer has been incredible, and I truly appreciate the way you welcomed me and made me feel like part of the family. Thank you again to the entire Wisconsin staff and fanbase for everything. This decision is about following the path I believe God is leading me toward, and I will always be grateful for the experience and relationships built along the way.”
Over the final few weeks of the season, Petit has become a major flip target for Brent Venables and Oklahoma. The Sooners hosted him in June for an official visit, but he ultimately chose the Badgers.

A little more than four months later though, they got him on campus for an unofficial visit and kept their foot on the gas. They’re now considered the heavy favorites to land him after multiple expert picks in the Rivals Prediction Machine (RPM).
Sooners have never stopped their pursuit of Petit
“The Sooners have always coveted Naples (Fla.) St. John Neumann receiver Jayden Petit. He took his official in the summer before giving Wisconsin his verbal,” Rivals VP of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong wrote last week. “Oklahoma stayed on him and got him back last month. As conversations continue with Venables, General Manager Jim Nagy and OU, that one is getting closer to a flip. My prediction reflects that.”
The 6-foot-4, 195-pounder is the No. 164 overall prospect and No. 26 WR in the 2026 class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services.
As a senior, Petit has hauled in 69 receptions for 1,544 yards and 23 touchdowns.
