4-star WR Kenny Darby decommits from LSU
Bossier City (La.) Airline four-star wide receiver Kenny Darby has decommitted from LSU ahead of National Signing Day, according to Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett.
Pledged to the in-state Tigers since Nov. 12, 2024, Darby is not transitioning into the Lane Kiffin era in Baton Rouge and is now looking for a new home on short notice.
Darby is the No. 188 overall prospect and No. 30 WR in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 6 recruit in Louisiana.
One of the longest-tenured commit in LSU’s 2026 class, Darby now becomes one of the top uncommitted recruits in the nation. There will be plenty of fluctuation throughout the Tigers’ pledge list as Kiffin ushers in a new era.
“I’m excited to see what’s going to happen,” Darby told Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman over the weekend as Kiffin was hired. “Obviously, Coach Kiffin is a great coach, so I know we will be in great hands!”
More on LSU Recruiting
It’s expected that a majority of LSU’s top commits will still ink with the SEC program despite the coaching staff changes. Kiffin met with No. 1 overall prospect Lamar Brown upon making it to Baton Rouge and inherited a top-15 recruiting class.

“The people here have shown love to me ever since I committed,” Brown told Rivals on Sunday. “Also, I believe that whatever coach comes in, we will succeed. What’s exciting me about my future is to bring back that DL that LSU had years ago and playing for the state of Louisiana. It’s all God’s plan, and I would love to have a chance to wear that No. 7 or 18 before I go to the NFL. Lastly, I want to be that Tiger that’s remembered forever!”
He’s also likely to add some firepower from the Ole Miss class — and that got started on Tuesday as four-star tight end JC Anderson flipped to LSU from the Rebels. The Tigers are also trending for four-star WR Corey Barber, who decommitted from Ole Miss on Monday.
Brown and five-star defensive lineman Richard Anderson headline the LSU class. They are the top two players in The Boot this cycle and two of now eight in-state commits for the Tigers.
Other top commits in the class to date include: No. 3 DL Deuce Geralds, No. 12 EDGE Trenton Henderson, No. 10 offensive tackle Brysten Martinez, No. 14 corner Havon Finney and No. 20 WR Jabari Mack.
