After reopening his recruitment, one school has the inside track for 2027 4-star WR Kesean Bowman

Kesean Bowman’s recruitment is back open. The four-star wide receiver out of Brentwood (Tenn.) Brentwood Academy, ranked No. 51 in the 2027 Rivals Industry Ranking, announced his decommitment from Oregon on Friday.
This move didn’t come out of nowhere. Discussions about a potential change had been happening behind the scenes the last few weeks, and Bowman made his decision more than a week ago. By all accounts, it wasn’t about Oregon doing anything wrong. Instead, Bowman simply felt he committed too early and wanted to take his visits as an uncommitted prospect.
Now, the focus shifts to what comes next. And once again, Tennessee has emerged as the program with the most momentum.
When Bowman committed to Oregon earlier this summer, it surprised many. He had long been considered a Tennessee lean, and even after his pledge to the Ducks, the Vols were viewed as the top competition.

There are several reasons Tennessee looks strong in this race. Bowman has already visited Knoxville more than 10 times, including just last week — his last stop before making the decommitment official. The relationships on Rocky Top run deep, with Josh Heupel personally involved in his recruitment. The Vols have made Bowman feel like a top priority, and sources indicate that his family also prefers the in-state program.
Bowman likes the fit in Tennessee’s offense, and the comfort factor is hard to ignore.
That said, other national powers are pushing. USC offered on Friday, while LSU and Texas remain heavily involved. Ohio State is firmly in the mix. The elite playmaker was in Columbus for the Texas game and the Buckeyes are viewed as a legitimate contender.
For now, though, Tennessee looks to be back in the same spot it held before Bowman’s commitment to Oregon — at the top of his list.
And he is planning to return to Knoxville for the UAB game Saturday.
