Florida State lands commitment from Jameis Winston's younger brother Jonah Winston

Hoover (Ala.) High athlete prospect and Florida State legacy recruit Jonah Winston committed to Florida State on Saturday.
Winston is the younger brother of Heisman Trophy winner, FSU National Champion and NFL quarterback Jameis Winston.
“It feels great,” Winston told Rivals Haydn Hollin regarding his pledge to the Seminoles. “Just a few years back I was down on the field playing with the coaches kids scoring touchdowns and claiming this was going to be legit one day!”
The 5-foot-10, 160-pound Winston chose to play for Florida State over an offer list that also included Maryland. He picked off a pass and had a touchdown reception in his ball game on Friday night after finding the end zone in the opener the week before.
As a junior, Winston had nearly 700 yards of total offense combined with eight touchdowns for the Alabama powerhouse.

Florida State adds Jonah Winston to Top 25 recruiting class
Winston becomes commit No. 23 for head coach Mike Norvell and his staff in the 2026 cycle, adding to a haul the Rivals Industry ranks No. 15 nationally.
“The thing about FSU that stood out to me was just the respect that the community and program has for me and my family!” Winston told Hollin. “It still feels like home and it’s never dull moment to me in Tallahassee.”
There is a lot of family pride with Winston joining the fold at Florida State.
“It feels so real,” Winston said. “As a young kid growing watching my brother do all the amazing things he has done it wasn’t hard for me to look up to him and want to be better!
“And for God to bless me with the chance to commit to my older brother’s old stomping grounds, the place where I watched him put life into I’m truly blessed.”
