Tabor Academy (Mass.) four-star quarterback Peter Bourque announced his commitment to Michigan on Monday.

The ballyhooed 2027 passer chose to play for head coach Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines over his other top schools in Penn State and Georgia.

“The program history of Michigan is unlike many, and the school is top-tier,” Bourque said. “I’m also a huge fan of the coaching staff there. I’ve been fortunate enough to form a great relationship with them.”

The Rivals Industry tabs Bourque as the nation’s No. 7 quarterback and No. 86 prospect overall. He was No. 1 on the board at Michigan.

Offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey was the lead recruiter for the 6-foot-4, 205-pound Bourque who visited Ann Arbor over the summer for camp. Other programs that extended a scholarship included Florida, Oregon and Texas A&M.

“I’m very excited about Michigan,” Bourque said. “They have done a great job developing quarterbacks like JJ McCarthy. Coach Lindsey has been great throughout this entire process. His development of Drake Maye is something that was very enticing to me. Michigan has a long tradition in winning including national championships. To play at a program with expectations like that is something I’ve always wanted to do.”

The opportunity on and off the field made Michigan right for Bourque

The environment at Michigan was exactly what Bourque was looking for as he becomes commit No. 3 in the rising junior class. He visited the school several times.

“Also the fan base is amazing always filling up 100,000,” Bourque said.

Spending time in Ann Arbor this summer and continued dialogue with Moore, Lindsey and the staff saw the Wolverines become the one to beat.

“As a program Michigan is one of few schools that can compete for National Championships. Develop player for football and the real world, and have their players leave with a world class degree.

“Great people across the program and an amazing culture.”

In nine games as a sophomore Bourque completed over 60 percent of his passes for 1,720 yards and 13 touchdowns to four interceptions. He rushed for over 300 yards and three more scores.

Bourque joins offensive linemen Tristan Dare and Louis Esposito to get Michigan’s class-of-2027 rolling out the gates.

“I had realized Michigan has everything I am looking for,” Bourque said. “It feels great to wrap it up prior to the season so all my focus can go back to what is important, winning football games at Tabor Academy and continuing to develop.”
