Michigan State is down one of its top commitments, as four-star wide receiver Tyren Wortham announced his decision to reopen his recruitment on Monday.

The Sarasota (Fla.) Booker star had been committed to the Spartans since June, when heflipped from UCF and chose them over Kansas State, Georgia, Ole Miss and a number of other programs. He took official visits with MSU, as well as the Bulldogs and Wildcats before his first decision on June 22.

Programs stayed in contact with him after he chose Michigan State though, including Georgia and Auburn. Back in August, he was looking to set up an in-season official visit with the Tigers but never made it to campus.

Over the weekend, he was reportedly back at UCF, the school he originally committed to. And they will likely be a school to watch going forward.

The 6-foot, 185-pounder is the No. 246 overall prospect in the 2026 class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services. He also ranks as the nation’s No. 42 wide receiver and No. 33 player in the Sunshine State.

Rivals, however, is even higher on him than both ESPN and 247Sports. In the most recent Rivals300 rankings, Wortham was tabbed as the country’s No. 127 overall recruit, No. 17 wideout and No. 14 player in Florida.

As a junior, Wortham registered 67 catches for 1,360 yards and 17 touchdowns. Through six games this season, he has hauled in 30 passes for 528 yards and six scores.
