Notre Dame secures a commitment from 2027 four-star DL Richie Flanigan
Green Bay (Wis.) Notre Dame De La Baie Academy four-star defensive lineman Richie Flanigan has committed to Notre Dame.
The legacy recruit chooses to play for head coach Marcus Freeman and the Irish over opportunities from the likes of Illinois, Michigan, Stanford and Wisconsin.
“I am very excited to commit to Notre Dame,” Flanigan said. “Notre Dame is a special place because it sets you up for life after football, and because of the life-time connections you make while you’re there.”
Flanigan’s father Jim starred for the Irish in the early 1990s before a long career in the NFL. His brother James is a freshman tight end in South Bend.

Notre Dame offered Richie on St. Patrick’s Day.
“This is obviously a huge opportunity for me to be able to have the chance to become part of the great history and culture,” Flanigan said. “The most exciting part about the program for me is the great campus and academics.”
The Rivals Industry tabs Flanigan as the No. 3 recruit in Wisconsin and No. 311 prospect overall. He is commit No. 4 for Freeman and his staff joining quarterback Teddy Jarrard, linebacker Ellis McGaskin and long snapper Sean Kraft.
Notre Dame is working on another Top 10 recruiting class and Flanigan was a top target.
