Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco four-star wide receiver Daniel Odom has been committed to Oklahoma since Jan. 28. Throughout the spring and summer, though, he did continue to entertain other programs.

That’s over and done with for the 6-foot-2 pass-catcher.

On Thursday, Odom announced via X that his recruitment is now shut down:

“This is one of the toughest decisions I have had to make in my life. With that being said, I am only one person and I can only choose one school. After much prayer and consideration I have decided that I will not be choosing another university,” he wrote.

“Effective immediately, I’m shutting down my recruitment and 100-percent committed to Oklahoma.”

The news comes just two days after Odom told Rivals’ Adam Gorney that he was planning to visit Colorado in the fall. Last month, he took official visits to OU, Florida State and Washington.

Odom hinted that he was closing in on shutting things down, and now that’s the case. He’s locking in with Brent Venables and the Sooners. To date, he’s the third highest-ranked prospect in the Oklahoma class.

He is the No. 307 overall prospect and No. 51 WR in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 28 player in California.

“I like Oklahoma,” Odom told Gorney. “I like what they have going. I like what my future could possibly hold up there. Playing early is a major role in my college future.

“Oklahoma was the right spot because of the relationship I have with Emmett Jones and coach Venables. They’re like a big family. They’re going to keep it real with me.”

Odom a big part of Oklahoma’s class

The Sooners currently have 15 commits in their class that ranks No. 25 in the nation, according to the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Odom is the lone receiver in the fold thus far.

Celina (Texas) four-star quarterback Bowe Bentley remains the class centerpiece following his June 20 pledge. He chose the Sooners over LSU and now ranks as Rivals’ No. 41 recruit and No. 4 QB.

As a junior en route to a state title, Bentley carved up defenses to the tune of 3,330 yards passing and 47 touchdowns, completing 70 percent of his throws. He added another 933 yards rushing and 16 more scores.

Windsor (Colo.) four-star interior offensive lineman Deacon Schmitt continues to see his stock rise ahead of his senior season. He’s the top-ranked recruit in Colorado this cycle and joined the fold in Norman eight days after Bentley.

Other blue-chip commits in the class include: Raymore (Mo.) Peculiar running back DeZephen Walker, Lincoln City (Ind.) Heritage Hills tight end Tyler Ruxer and Bryant (Ark.) linebacker Jakore Smith.
