4-star WR Somourian Wingo sets commitment date, three schools still in contention

Another of the nation’s top wide receivers in the 2026 class is set to come off the board later this week, as four-star Somourian Wingo announced on Tuesday that he will make his decision on July 17.
The St. Augustine (Fla.) standout told On3’s Hayes Fawcett that he will choose between finalists Miami, South Carolina and Florida. Each of the three programs hosted him for official visits this summer — the Hurricanes got the first crack at him the weekend of May 30, followed by Florida (June 6) and South Carolina (June 20).
Now, a little less than a month after taking his final visit, Wingo is ready for an announcement.
Heading into his decision in less than 48 hours, the Gators hold the lead in the Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). He lives 90 minutes from Florida’s campus and has been to Gainesville on multiple occasions.
But the Gamecocks have made things interesting since his official visit.
“South Carolina definitely stepped up with the visit,” Wingo told Rivals’ Marcus Benjamin last week. “The idea that everybody had was that there was nothing to do in South Carolina. But me going over there and them showing that there is stuff that we can do over there and have a lot of fun, but keep the main thing the main thing at the same time.”
Gators looking to keep Wingo at home, add to growing class
Florida is hoping its relationships with him will ultimately pay off.
“That’s a huge factor,” Wingo said of the Gators. “Just me knowing I’m going to be surrounded by a lot of people and I’m going to be developed. That’s another key factor as far as me making my decision.”

His decision will come down to the inside feel of the two programs and how he perceives life will be for the next three to four years.
“The players’ perspective of the coaches and the people around. Seeing how it really is and seeing how I’ll be moving around with the people there for the next three to four years of my life. It’s really more so me getting to know the players and the people that I’m going to be surrounding myself with.”
As a junior, he hauled in 71 receptions for 1,119 yards and 14 touchdowns. Wingo checks in as the No. 139 overall prospect and No. 20 wideout in the 2026 class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services.
