Top-150 overall recruit Cello Jackson commits to Memphis

Cello Jackson, a three-star combo guard in the 2026 class, has committed to Memphis, he told Rivals.

The 6-foot-4 senior out of Columbus High School (FL) chose the Tigers over Arkansas State, Texas State, and Murray State.

Jackson, a Memphis native, is ranked as the No. 141 overall player in the class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking.

He is Memphis’ first commitment in the 2026 class.

Jackson on why he chose Memphis

Cello Jackson went in-depth on why he chose Memphis with Rivals.

“Being able to come back to my hometown and the style of play I would thrive in and the whole coaching staff believes in me.”

What led to his trust in the coaching staff?

“Coach Penny Hardaway just believing in me to come in as freshman and make an impact in every aspect in the game. He said he sees me becoming a All Conference Defensive Team early and one of best two-way freshmen when it’s  all said and done.”

In his own words, what type of player is Memphis getting in Cello Jackson?

“I describe my playstyle as one of the best combo two-way guard in our class and a winner. Someone that gets the job done no matter what and a high-level defender.”

He has a message for Memphis fans.

“The city ain’t had a hometown hero in a minute so Tiger nation let’s do it!”
