Another five-star recruit came off the board on Sunday night, as Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei offensive tackle Brandon Baker committed to Texas. Baker is the No. 23 overall prospect — per the On3 Industry Ranking — and became the 28th five-star in the 2024 cycle to pledge.

That leaves just four five-stars that remain uncommitted. With the high school and college football seasons well underway and the early signing period edging closer, here’s who remains on the board, as well as which programs are in the lead for their respective recruitments, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

ATH Terry Bussey

School: Timpson (Texas)
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 19
On3 RPMTexas A&M 94.8%, Texas 1.5%
The Skinny: Terry Bussey‘s commitment date is finally set, as the No. 2 athlete in the cycle will announce his decision on Sept. 28, choosing between LSU, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Texas and Alabama. The Aggies are the heavy favorite, though Alabama and LSU each had the wideout on campus in September.

“Texas A&M has been a long-time favorite with Bussey out of east Texas. In the 2024 cycle, the Aggies have hit hard in the southeast corridor where Terry Bussey lives,” On3’s Sam Spiegelman said. “They’ve gotten commitments from blue-chippers in the On300 like Dre’lon MillerTyanthony SmithWeston Davis. We know that he’s going to take OVs to Alabama for the Texas game on September 9 and he’ll be back at LSU for the 23rd. But I still like the lead that A&M has kind of dug out for themselves and where they sit going into the 28th decision.”

WR Ryan Wingo

School: Saint Louis (Mo.) University
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 24
On3 RPM: Texas 48.3%, Missouri 29.2% Tennessee 11.9%
The Skinny: While a date isn’t official for Ryan Wingo, he plans to commit on Dec. 20, the first day of the NCAA Early National Signing period. He’s taken game visits to see Texas and Mizzou this season, though the Longhorns appear to be the frontrunner with November nearing. Colorado will receive an official visit this weekend.

“Missouri and Texas have separated themselves in this race,” On3’s Chad Simmons said of Wingo. “Tennessee, Texas A&M and a few others are hanging around, but there is a battle at the top for one of the best in the Midwest. There is confidence in Columbia and Austin for Wingo. There are two parts to this equation. Not only is it about who the top school is for Wingo, but also, when will he make his decision. If he goes soon, the intel suggests Missouri could be the team to beat. If Wingo plays the long game, then Texas may be in the best position.”

CB Kobe Black

School: Waco (Texas) Connally
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 25
On3 RPMTexas 93.5%, Texas A&M 1.7%
The Skinny: Kobe Black named a top five of Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, Ohio State and Oregon on Aug. 9. It appears to be the Longhorns’ recruitment to lose, though he has official October visits upcoming with Alabama and A&M. He’s the No. 3 CB and No. 7 player from Texas in the cycle.

“Texas A&M has a little more buzz around it over the summer than it did back in the spring, but Texas is still the team to beat,” On3’s Chad Simmons said of the race for Black. Alabama and LSU are in this as well, but all signs point to Black staying in state at this time. He has an official visit scheduled to College Station the first weekend in October, so that is something to watch. This race is a little tighter than some expected to be between the Longhorns and the Aggies, but the school in Austin still leads early in September.”

OT Jordan Seaton

School: Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 32
On3 RPM: Ohio State 56.3%, Alabama 19.9%, Florida 9.6%
The Skinny: Jordan Seaton has kept his recruitment wide open, setting up a jam-packed schedule of game visits this fall. Colorado and Alabama have already received visits in September, while trips to Florida, Oklahoma and Ohio State are amongst the slew of programs that are hopeful to get him on campus in the near future.

“For me, it is about relationships and development,” Seaton said. “I will rely on those a lot when it comes time to pick the best school. NIL will play a small part too, and player compensation is something I am looking at, but it is not what I will base my decision on. I need to have that relationship with the coach and the staff and feel good about the environment. That is what is most important.”
