Owensboro (Ky.) High four-star running back Evan Hampton tells Rivals he has flipped his commitment from Louisville to Vanderbilt.

Besides the Commodores and Cardinals, the 6-foot, 200-pound Hampton also had offers from Michigan, NC State, Penn State and Kentucky.

Vanderbilt head coach Clark Lea and his staff were one of the first programs to prioritze Hampton and now they have him in the fold.

“It felt like home and the right fit for me as a human being,” Hampton said. “I felt the culture consume me and I felt like I ultimately belonged in that program with Coach Lea and the rest of the staff.”

As a junior Hampton averaged nearly 10 yards per carry in gaining 1,609 yards and scoring 24 touchdowns. Rivals ranks him as the No. 1 ranked player in Kentucky, No. 16 running back in the country and No. 171 prospect overall.

Hampton becomes commit No. 17 for Vanderbilt in the 2026 class.

“The family feel, academic opportunity, and Nashville, Tennessee is all something I felt was right up my alley,” Hampton said.

“I believe they’re having success from doing the right things, the small details with discipline and more. They showed that this past season, and I’m ready to hop on that boat and be along for the ride, because I believe Vanderbilt football is trending.”
