Sam Hartman wears No. 10 in honor of Demitri Allison, who the Hartman family took into their home when Sam was in middle school. Allison, who lived with the Hartman’s for all four years of high school, became a brother to Hartman. He went on to play football at Elon. But sadly in November 2015, Allison died by suicide at the age of 21. Just a few days later, Sam — wearing Allison’s No. 10 jersey — led Davidson (N.C.) Davidson Day to the state championship. Hartman earned the starting role at Wake Forest as a freshman, and other than a redshirt season in 2019, has held it ever since. Hartman is majoring in communications and minoring in journalism. He is the son of Lisa and Mark Hartman. His father is a doctor and surgeon. His older brother Joe Hartman played basketball at Division III Haverford College in Pennsylvania. Hartman averaged 20.4 minutes and 5.9 points over four seasons.
