4-star TE Shamar Easter signs with Arkansas

Ashdown coach Matt Richardson describes Shamar Easter as a “man among boys.” In fact, Easter was so dominating as a junior-high player that Arkansas indicated it was going to recruit him heavily and offered him before he played a down of varsity football. “He’s just God-gifted,” Richardson told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. He has big hands, big features that’s why on the highlight he has some one-handed stuff. He can separate. I was at Arkansas when Matt Jones was there. Shamar is deceptively fast like him.” His parents are Karl Murphy and Norma Jackson. His siblings are Nevaeh Easter and Mykei Hopkins.

Shamar Easter's dimensions, multi-sport athleticism and developmental upside remind us of Josh Oliver.

Blue Chip

The top of the scale — national-caliber talent that every major program pursues, with a clear NFL trajectory.

Elite / Top 100

High upside tight end prospect with an outstanding athletic and physical profile. Natural athlete who shows the top end play speed to pull away from opposing defensive backs. One of the faster top tight ends in the 2023 cycle. Has considerable room for growth at around 6-foot-5, 215 pounds with long arms. Uses his length to his advantage by way of a large catch radius. Shows the budding ability to win in contested situations. Lines up both split out and in-line for his high school. Will need to add mass and strength but already shows some ability as a blocker. Doubles as a very good high school basketball player. Shows off his athleticism as a dunker and emphatic shot blocker. Also participates in track, where he’s put up impressive marks in the shot put and high jump. Has the look of a potential high responder to the specified strength training he’ll receive in college.
