Wisconsin Junior Cornerback Geimere Latimer Plans to Enter the Transfer Portal
Wisconsin lost another projected starter on Tuesday as junior cornerback Geimere Latimer Jr. announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal, first reported by On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
Latimer, a transfer from Jacksonville State, spent just one season with the Badgers. In 2025, Latimer appeared in all 12 games, including three starts. He posted 28.0 tackles and a forced fumble this season.
The older brother of former Wisconsin running back commit Amari Latimer, Geimere, is expected to follow his brother to West Virginia and play for Rich Rodriguez. Geimere played for Rodriguez while at Jacksonville State.
Prior to Wisconsin, Latimer played in 27 games for Jacksonville State. As a sophomore, he racked up 46.0 tackles and three interceptions, which was tied for third in Conference USA. Latimer was also an instant impact freshman for the Gamecocks in 2023, making two starts en route to 10.0 tackles and an interception.
Other key pieces on defense the Badgers have lost through the transfer portal include linebacker Christian Alliegro and linebacker Tackett Curtis.
Impact of Losing Latimer
Impact: Medium
As of Tuesday, Wisconsin has now lost its top three cornerbacks from the 2025 season. Senior Ricardo Hallman is out of eligibility and expected to declare for the NFL Draft. Fellow senior D’Yoni Hill will also depart the program. The Badgers do return a pair of freshmen who saw meaningful action this fall — Omillio Agard and Cairo Skanes.
The Badgers were going to go into the portal and attack the cornerback position hard anyway. Latimer had a decent season with UW, but he’s not irreplacable. The writing has been on the wall after what took place with Amari during the early signing period as well.
