MADISON, Wis. — It’s a long way from now, but the Wisconsin Badgers will open the 2031 football season against Virginia Tech in a Big Ten-ACC battle. A game that was originally set to be played in Blacksburg, VA, has been moved to a neutral site. The two will face off in the Duke’s Mayo Classic at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC.

At the moment, Wisconsin is 2-1, while the Hokies are a disappointing 0-3, having just fired their head coach, Brent Pry. Phil Montgomery will serve as the interim head coach. All time, Virginia Tech is 774-508-44, with a 14-22 bowl record.

Bank of America Stadium, home of the Carolina Panthers, sits just under 180 miles from Virginia Tech. The last time Wisconsin played in the Duke’s Mayo Classic was in 2020, defeating Wake Forest 42-38.

The Badgers and Hokies have never faced off in program history. The two are also scheduled to meet for the second time ever in 2032 at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison.
