Minnesota kicker David Kemp enters transfer portal
Minnesota kicker David Kemp is leaving the Golden Gophers program after three seasons.
On Friday, the Wichita, Kansas native announced that he will be entering the transfer portal, the second time he’s done so in his career after starting his collegiate career at Memphis.
“Thank you Minnesota for the countless experiences with my brothers these past three years,” he said on a post. “After graduating from the Carlson School of Management, and talking with my family, I’ve decided to enter the transfer portal as a grad transfer for my last year of eligibility! Proverbs 3:5-6.”
Kemp, with one year of eligibility remaining, never kicked for the Golden Gophers and hasn’t attempted a field goal since the 2021 season. With Memphis during the 2021 season, the 5-foot-8 placekicker was 5-for-7 as well as 7-of-9 in extra point attempts.
Kemp is the 11th Golden Gopher to announce their intention to enter the transfer portal this month, and the second specialist to do so, joining punter Caleb McGrath.

Also entering the transfer portal this month have been running back Fame Ijeboi, wide receiver Cristian Driver, wide receiver Legend Lyons, safety Ethan Carrier, quarterback Jackson Kollock, wide receiver Kenric Lanier, punter Caleb McGrath, wide receiver Quentin Redding, and offensive tackle Reese Tripp.
