Minnesota opens as small underdog to Northwestern for week 13 road contest at Wrigley

The Minnesota Golden Gophers are coming off their fourth loss of the 2025 season on Friday evening, falling to the No. 8 Oregon Ducks at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon 42-13. It was the Gophers’ fourth road loss of the season and their third blowout loss, after also losing to No. 1 Ohio State 42-3 and rival Iowa 41-3.
On Sunday, BetMGM released their initial odds for Minnesota’s week 13 contest against the Northwestern Wildcats at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
BetMGM currently has the Gophers as a 4.5-point underdog to Northwestern with the total in the game set a low 41.5 points.
Northwestern enters week 13 of the season with a 5-5 overall record including 3-4 in conference play. The Wildcats after winning five of their first seven games of the season have lost each of their last three games to Nebraska (28-21), USC (38-17), and No. 18 Michigan (24-22).
Minnesota enters the contest with a 6-4 record including 4-3 in Big Ten play. Minnesota after winning three of their first four games have been up-and-down in conference play. After back-to-back wins over Purdue and No. 25 Nebraska, the Gophers have sandwiched blowout road losses to Iowa and Oregon with an ugly 23-20 win over Michigan State in week 10. The Spartans enter week 13 with a 3-7 overall record and are 0-7 in conference play.
MInnesota this season is a Big Ten worst 2-7-1 against the spread while Northwestern is among the league’s best against the spread at 6-3-1.
Minnesota and Northwestern will kickoff at 11:00 a.m. CT on Saturday with the game television on the Big Ten Network.
