Minnesota basketball ranked No. 73 in initial 2025-26 KenPom rankings
The initial 2025-26 Pomeroy College Basketball Ratings have been released, and the Minnesota Golden Gophers, set to begin year one of the Niko Medved era, are ranked among the top 75 programs in college basketball.
The Gophers are 73rd overall and 16th in the Big Ten, only ahead of Rutgers (85) and Penn State (95). Their preseason offensive rating comes in at No. 70, and their defensive rating ranked 88th.
Last season, the Gophers finished 83rd in the KenPom rankings with their 15-17 overall record. Their offensive rating of 110.6 ranked 101st in the country, and their defensive rating of 101.5 ranked 77th nationally.
The Gophers this season will look to bounce back from their fifth losing season in the past six seasons. During Ben Johnson’s four-year tenure, the Golden Gophers were 56-71 overall, including 22-57 in Big Ten play.
