REPORT: Minnesota to be without both Darius Taylor and AJ Turner
The Minnesota Golden Gophers will be without star running back Darius Taylor for a second-straight game on Saturday and will also be missing Marshall transfer A.J. Turner as well, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Taylor left the Gophers’ week two matchup against the Northwestern State Demons with what appeared to be a potential hamstring injury, pulling up at the end of the run before grabbing the back of his leg. He did not play in the program’s week three loss to California.
When it comes to A.J. Turner, it will be his first game missed after leaving in the first quarter against California.
Without Taylor and Turner, the Gophers will turn to redshirt freshman Fame Ijeboi and senior Washington transfer Cameron Davis in the backfield.
Ijeboi, through three games this season, has 23 carries for 136 yards, averaging 5.9 yards per carry. He also has three receptions for 21 yards and one touchdown. Against California, Ijeboi had a career high 16 carries for 85 yards, averaging 5.3 yards per carry.
Davis will also see a share of the carries. In three games this season, he has 21 carries for 69 yards and two touchdowns. Against California, he totaled 15 carries for 44 yards and one touchdown.
