Arkansas basketball Pro Day: updates, reactions

Fans got a first-hand look at the Arkansas Razorbacks men’s basketball team during Primetime at the Palace inside Bud Walton Arena on Friday and now the nation will get a sneak peak Sunday for the Pro Day held in the Marsha and Marty Martin Family Basketball Performance Center.
Live coverage will be provided by the FanDuel Sports Network beginning at 4 p.m. CT that includes steaming on the FanDuel Sports Network app, Prime Video, the network’s YouTube channel.
Representatives from all 30 NBA teams will be on site to get a first-hand look at the Razorback players that include projected first round picks Darius Acuff Jr. and Karter Knox.
“It’s like, look, it’s not what you want to show, it’s what they want to see,” Calipari said of making an impression in front of scouts. “You fall back on your training, you are going to be fine. The other thing is your body language. It screams. So they know you don’t have to miss a shot and act mad. They don’t think you’re happy. So just those kinds of things. And then, again, (be a) great teammate. Make the extra pass. Make the plays you have.”

HawgBeat has all of the top moments from the event below.
– After more than an hour and a half of work, Calipari felt like his team “broke down” a few times during drills, but overall did some good things in front of the scouts. Cal would like to see a little more from from his post players.
“If you don’t have post presence, your team is a fraud,” he said. “All in all, the kids helped themselves and they set the tone individually.”
– Billy Richmond III with a nice steal and finish, slamming it home during five-on-five.
Five-on-five teams:
Red: Darius Acuff, Karter Knox, Nick Pringle, Isaiah Sealy, Maleek Thomas
White: Trevon Brazile, Malique Ewin, Jaden Karuletwa, Billy Richmond, DJ Wagner
– Guard Maleek Thomas was described as a “gym rat” and lives in the gym. He is starting to come on and the college game speed is slowing down for him. Arguably the best shooter on the team as a true freshman.
– Very nice finish at the basket by true freshman and Springdale alumnus Isaiah Sealy. Analyst Matt Zimmerman believes Sealy could crack the rotation this season.
– Calipari pointed out that true freshman guard Darius Acuff Jr. has one of the best midranges he’s seen.
– Karter Knox and Malique Ewin each looking sharp in advantage/disadvantage team drill.
– Florida State transfer forward Malique Ewin is impressing early with long range shots.
