2027 cornerback Brandon Allen Jr. committed to Mississippi State back in September, but that hasn’t stopped several other schools from trying to change the Westlake (Ga.) standout’s mind with the latest being a program from right down the road.

Georgia Tech was the most recent added offer for Allen on Wednesday as it continued a surge in his recruitment since the start of the new year, which has included 10 total new offers, several coming from Power 4 programs. Allen said while he remains committed to the Bulldogs, he’s thinking about each new offer with an open mind, especially the one from the school just a few miles away in Atlanta.

“The Georgia Tech offer means a lot to me especially!” Allen told JOL during an interview on Wednesday night. “It’s one we’ve been keeping are eye on and waiting on. And shoot, who doesn’t want to play for the city.”

Jackets’ CB coach Kobie Jones makes good impression on Allen

One of the staff’s top recruiters since coming onboard prior to the 2025 season, Georgia Tech cornerbacks coach Kobie Jones was the one who extended the offer to Allen and made sure he knew why the Jackets were so interested in him.

“It was (Coach) Kobie, and he said they like the way I’m tall with length and speed,” said Allen. “(They like) that I’m aggressive with ball skills in my game.”

Several schools making a push for Allen

While Mississippi State and a few other Power 4 schools (Indiana, Baylor, Pitt, Arkansas, Michigan State) have been in the mix of Allen’s recruitment for a while, he has compiled several more offers since the beginning of January, including Vanderbilt, Nebraska, North Carolina, Wake Forest, UCF, Kansas State and Georgia Tech.

Allen said a few schools have stuck out recently as he tries to get some visits set on the calendar for the spring.

“The schools right now pushing the hardest are Vanderbilt, Florida State, Ole Miss and Mississippi State,” said Allen. “I’m going to be setting up which spring practices I’m going to soon.”

Georgia Tech wasn’t in the lead group that he mentioned above but that could change as Allen seems interested in learning more about the local contender just 17 miles away in midtown Atlanta.

Allen believes he has the skillset to stand apart from others

With the frame he has at 6-foot-2 along with a solid 175 pounds and athleticism and physicality to match, Allen said he thinks he is different from many other cornerback prospects in the 2027 class.

“I think what separates me is there is not a lot of kids my age at 6-2, 6-3 moving like me,” said Allen.

Allen’s recruitment is a long way from over as he is sure to pick up even more steam in the coming months before setting up official visits and making a final decision. It will be interesting to see if his early Mississippi State commitment sticks or another school can secure the flip with Georgia Tech among those programs pushing for just that.
