Even though we’re past football season, it’s easy to miss some of the stuff going on around Mizzou sports. Here is a look at what MizzouToday wasn’t able to cover last week.

Women’s basketball

We were able to cover the women’s basketball game against Cal in the SEC/ACC Challenge. So I won’t recap that here.

But while I was covering the Border War in Kansas City, the Tigers were hosting SIU-Edwardsville at Mizzou Arena on Sunday.

The Tigers won 65-56, claiming a fifth consecutive win.

SIUE jumped out to a 24-16 lead, then led 33-24 at halftime. But the Tigers charged out of halftime to tie the game at 42 going to the fourth, then Mizzou outscored the Cougars 23-14 in the fourth.

Jordana Reisma led the Tigers with 17 points to go with five rebounds and two steals, while Grace Slaughter added 11 points and a team-high six rebounds. Shannon Dowell also contributed 11 points, four rebounds, two assists and two blocks.

Slaughter and Dowell have scored in double figures in every game this season.

Abbey Schreacke added 10 points with two made 3-pointers, as she works to rebound from a slow start.

Mizzou shot 22-of-57 (38.6 percent) from the field, 5-of-13 (38.5 percent) from 3 and a perfect 16-of-16 from the free-throw line.

Mizzou led 11-6 in points off turnovers, while the Tigers led 28-16 in points in the paint and 12-4 in fast break point. But the Cougars out rebounded the Tigers 36-31.

Mizzou (9-2), will move on to host Illinois at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

  • Mizzou then went a little farther east to Edwardsville for the Cougar Clash on Sunday.

Mizzou was led by two runner-up finishes. Easton Hilton took second at 141 pounds, while Conway took second at 157.

Freshman Seth Mendoza had a pin and two technical falls to lead to a third-place finish at 149.

Cross Country

Former Mizzou standout Karissa Schweizer earned a spot on Team USA in the 2026 World Athletics Cross Country Championship. She placed fourth in the women’s 10-kilometer run at the 2025 USA Track & Field Cross Country Championship on Saturday in Portland, Ore.

Schweizer ran a time of 34:16.2 to grab one of six automatic qualifying positions.

She will now go to the World Championships, which will be in Tallahassee, Fla., on Jan. 10.

It will be the first time in 34 years the USA hosts the global event.

This will be Schweizer’s sixth appearance for Team USA at a global championship and her second World Cross Country team.

Baseball

The Tigers announced their 2026 schedule.

Mizzou will face 11 NCAA Regional qualifiers from last year’s tournament. The Tigers will play 56 total games with 29 at home.
