TheBigSpur publisher and founder JC Shurburtt has built a 20-plus year career in online media, both in and outside of the South Carolina market with a focus on recruiting. He grew up in Spartanburg, S.C. and is a 2002 graduate of the University of South Carolina Upstate.

Jamie Bradford is a native of Mount Pleasant, S.C. and first started working in media in 2014 at ESPN Radio in Charleston, S.C. where he co-hosted a morning show on 1450 AM, served as host of the midday show on ESPN 98.9 FM and co-hosted Carolina Gameday — the pregame show for South Carolina Football — each fall with Bobby Hartin. In 2020, Jamie and Darren Goldwater launched “JB and Goldwater,” the first daily digital sports show in South Carolina. In 2023, Bradford came on board with JC Shurburtt to co-host Inside the Gamecocks — The Show. Shurburtt and Bradford created The Chief Sports Network, which houses multiple weekly digital sports programs. Outside of work and the Gamecocks, Jamie enjoys being on the boat and spending time in Maggie Valley, N.C.

Phil “Mad Dog” Mullinax

A South Carolina native, Phil’s a husband of over 20 years to his wife, Deana, and father of two daughters. After assisting in the growth and management of a regional commercial parts warehouse and distribution company in Greenville, S.C. for 20 years, he joined JC Shurburtt in 2022 in founding Inside the Gamecocks The Show as cohost and producer to create a live, daily streaming show and podcast covering The University of South Carolina. Phil’s primary role of executive producer and social media support continues to expand and evolve as he offers his unique, sometimes unconventional, opinions on a broad range of topics around the world of sports and beyond. 

Matt Anderson

Matt Anderson is a long-time contributor to TheBigSpur, specializes in analytics — particularly in basketball — and is the host of the Late Night Gamecock Show. Originally from Florence, S.C., Matt is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, and he and his wife have a son.
