Vanderbilt Tight End Eli Stowers has been announced as the winner of the John Mackey Award. The John Mackey Award is presented annually to the best Tight End in college football, Eli Stowers certainly fits that description. Stowers led the Commodores in both receptions and yardage, catching 62 passes for 769 yards. Stowers led the country in receiving yards from the Tight End position, only surpassed in receptions by Houston Tight End Tanner Koziol (65).

Stowers had a phenomenal season of consistent production, the go-to guy for Diego Pavia in this high powered Vanderbilt offense. Stowers never accounted for less than 3 catches in a game all season, with explosive statistical performances in back-to-back weeks against Texas and Auburn, catching for 100+ yards in each game. This is the first time a Vanderbilt player has won this award. Eli Stowers was also recently named the winner of the William V. Campbell trophy earlier this week, often referred to as the “Academic Heisman”.

  • Kenyon Sadiq, Oregon
