Rutgers Football Makes Move in 2025 Recruiting Rankings, Sees Slight Fall in 2026

As of this earlier this weekend, Rutgers Football was sporting a Top 30 ranked class for the 2026 recruiting cycle, but that changed a bit on Sunday as the program’s top commitment and four-star EDGE Wydeek Collier made the decision to reclassify to 2025 and enroll early.

With that move, the 2026 recruiting class is now down to 21 total commitments and is ranked No. 36 in the latest Rivals Industry rankings. That also puts the Scarlet Knights at No. 13 overall in the Big Ten Conference this cycle.
Along with some movement in the 2026 class, this also plays a role on the 2025 class as they now have added a Top 100 prospect and see a slight jump there as well, going from No. 30 to No. 29 overall in the country. This also jumps the program up from No. 11 in the Big Ten to No. 9 overall in the conference for the 2025 cycle, only behind Oregon (No. 4), Ohio State (No. 5), Michigan (No. 6), Penn State (No. 13), USC (No. 15), Nebraska (No. 21), Washington (No. 25), and Wisconsin (No. 27)
With that update, the 2025 class now becomes the third highest ranked recruiting class in program history, only behind the 2012 class (No. 25 overall) and the 2009 class (No. 27 overall).
Here’s a look at the top ranked Rutgers Football recruiting classes of all time.
- 2012 Class – No. 25 overall
- 2009 Class – No. 27 overall
- 2025 Class – No. 29 overall
- 2011 Class – No. 32 overall
- 2007 Class – No. 38 overall
- 2008 Class – No. 39 overall
- 2024 Class – No. 40 overall
Despite the move, the 2026 class still has a chance to be amongst that top list of recruiting classes all time, as they are still ranked No. 36 overall and it also features several four-star recruits.
