Three-Star EDGE Jacquey Ferguson decommits from UConn Football

St. Petersburg (FL) Northside Christian three-star edge rusher Jacquey Ferguson Jr. has decommitted from UConn Football and will reopen his recruitment, he announced on Friday afternoon.
He was pledged to the Huskies since June 24th following an Official Visit to campus, where he chose the Huskies over offers from Georgia, Syracuse, West Virginia, Vanderbilt, and several others.
“After talks and prayer, I have decommitted from the University Of Connecticut. Thank you to all the coaches who looked out for me.,” Ferguson wrote on X announcing his decision.
This news shouldn’t be too shocking, as North Carolina State just offered a day ago and has made a significant push to flip Ferguson. Look for the Wolfpack to try and get him on campus sooner rather than later.
With the news, Ferguson becomes the second prospect to decommit from UConn Football this recruiting cycle joining cornerback recruit Javion Romer from Georgia, who still remains uncommitted as of today.
The Huskies recruiting class is now down to 15 total commits and is currently ranked No. 83 in the country for the 2026 recruiting cycle per the Rivals Industry rankings.
