Green Run Stays Undefeated, Advances to Region 5A Final
Green Run continued their dominance over Virginia Beach foes and remained undefeated with a 28-7 win over the Salem Sun Devils. It was the 2nd time this season the Stallions defeated their rival, although this 2nd meeting was not as close as the 7-point margin in the 1st game
Quarterback Luke Ashcraft threw two 1st quarter touchdown passes while passing for 180 yards. He connected with Zaevion Cleveland on the opening drive for a 14-yard touchdown completion.
He threw another touchdown with 16 seconds left in the 1st quarter for a 14-0 lead.

Salem sliced the lead to seven with a 10-play drive that ended with a 17-yard touchdown pass from Jack Strother to Cameron Hall with 3:37 to go.
However, their momentum was short-lived as Ashcraft again found Zebedee Clark for 54 yards to the Salem 3-yard line. Charles “CJ” Jackson finished the 2-play drive with a touchdown that gave Green Run a 21-7 lead at halftime.
The Stallions’ defense made the lead stand with a 2nd half shutout, which included interceptions by sophomore Qwayvon Cleveland and senior Kamren Johnson, a Virginia Tech commit. Senior Tristen Williams scored the game’s final touchdown with a 6-yard run midway through the 3rd quarter.
Green Run will host Indian River, who defeated Cox 42-3 on Friday.
