The West Virginia basketball program has jumped into the mix with a scholarship offer to Southeastern Prep (Fla.) five-star center Obinna Ekezie Jr.

Ekezie is one of the premier players in the 2027 class ranked as the fourth best player nationally and the top overall center according to Rivals. He is the son of former Maryland center Obinna Ekezie.

“Blessed to receive an offer from West Virginia. Really thankful for this opportunity,” he tweeted.

Ekezie already has collected offers from a long list of schools including Kentucky, Kansas, Houston, Alabama, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Washington, UCLA and USC, among others.

West Virginia head coach Ross Hodge has been aggressive on the recruiting trail since arriving on campus and this is an opportunity for the Mountaineers to get involved with one of the top players in the country.
