On Monday afternoon, On3 is updating its 2024 On300 rankings but first released the batch of 5-star prospects.

DJ Lagway, the Gators’ elite quarterback commit, is the newest addition to the group after receiving a well-deserved bump this morning.

A product of Willis (Texas) High, Lagway is now a 5-star prospect and the No. 15-ranked prospect overall.

Prior to Monday’s update, the Florida commit checked in at No. 21 overall and was the second-ranked quarterback. His positional ranking did not change, but Lagway did move up six spots to break into the top 15.

Alabama commit Julian Sayin, slotted at No. 7 overall, is the lone quarterback ranked ahead of Lagway.

As a senior, Lagway has completed 75.2 percent of his passes for 3,807 yards and 51 touchdowns. He is also responsible for 818 yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground, cementing himself as one of the very best prospects this cycle.

On Friday, Lagway and the 12-0 Wildcats take on another undefeated squad in 11-0 DeSoto. That highly-anticipated matchup is why the signal caller will not be in Gainesville for the Florida State game.

On3 Scouting Report on DJ Lagway

Thickly-built quarterback prospect with one of the better combinations of arm talent and athleticism in the 2024 cycle. Has measured at around 6-foot-2.5, 230 pounds with a 9.5-inch hand. Tests as a good athlete in the combine setting.

Lagway flashes palpable arm strength with the ability to make throws to every level of the field. The ball pops out of his hand. Hits far hash throws with relative ease. Arm talent shines when forced to throw from multiple arm slots or off-platform. Makes some very impressive reactive plays.

Efficient with his movements in the pocket and comfortable working outside the pocket. Lagway owns some of the best mobility among top 2024 quarterbacks. Has quick feet and is able to extend plays and pick up yards on the ground. Ripped off a number of big gains on scrambles as a junior. His size and athleticism also provide the makings of a dangerous between the tackles threat on designed quarterback runs.

Lagway is a touted two-sport athlete who has also received multiple offers as a baseball player. — On3 Director of Scouting and Ranking Charles Power
