INJURY UPDATE -- FSU Football WR Johnny Wilson speaks on injury
Early signs point to a sigh of relief for one of FSU Football’s most important players. After Saturday’s 39-17 win over Virginia Tech, a game in which he left with an injury, wide receiver Johnny Wilson took to social media to update fans about his injury status.
“I’m straight!” Wilson wrote on X.com. “Love these boys man.”
Wilson went down in the third quarter after hauling in a 13-yard pass from quarterback Jordan Travis. Shortly after being helped off the field, Wilson walked without assistance to the FSU locker room.
After the game, head coach Mike Norvell was noncommittal on Wilson’s status.
“We’ll see,” he said. “Obviously (he) wasn’t able to come back. We’ll see what that looks like as we move forward to this week. Man, what a great start to the game. Johnny has been really good for us this year.”
Wilson helped ignite an FSU offense that got off to its best start of the season. The Seminoles scored the first 22 points of the game — all in the first quarter — thanks in large part to Wilson’s two touchdown catches.
The redshirt junior finished the day with four catches for 54 yards.
