Highly coveted DL transfer Sione Lolohea commits to Florida State
When they landed veteran transfer quarterback DJ Uiagalelei last week, Florida State’s coaches likely figured that would help them attract some transfer candidates on offense.
That has happened, as expected, but Uiagalelei’s arrival also played a role in the Seminoles landing coveted defensive line transfer Sione Lolohea from the portal on Wednesday.
Lolohea played at Oregon State with Uiagalelei this past season, and he has seen extensive action during his four years with the Beavers.
This past season, the 6-foot-3, 266-pounder recorded 46 tackles with 8.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks; he also forced two fumbles and recovered another. He was named to the All-Pac-12 second-team defense after receiving Honorable Mention the year before.
In 2022, Lolohea racked up 33 tackles and two sacks.
Defensive line is arguably Florida State’s greatest position of need in the transfer portal this cycle, and the Seminoles have now landed four players along that front.
Former Colorado State defensive tackle Grady Kelly, former Georgia defensive end Marvin Jones Jr. and former West Virginia defensive lineman Tomiwa Durojaiye have also pledged to continue their careers at Florida State.
