Florida State fielded a top 25 defense in 2023 and with several key pieces bound for the NFL in 2024 which made it all the more imperative to replenish its roster with early enrollees.

Shawn Murphy, who played in 18 games over the course of two seasons for the Crimson Tide, helps bolster a linebacker segment that loses Tatum Bethune and Kalen DeLoach. Murphy was recruited by Mike Norvell while in high school in Manassas, Va. and cited Norvell’s vision coming to fruition over the years as being a key in his decision to transfer to Florida State.

Earl Little Jr., who also spent the last two seasons at Alabama, prepped at American Heritage under current defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain. Little saw action in two games in 2023 playing a total of 21 snaps according to Pro Football Focus as he battled injury; Little says he is now fully healthy.
