The Florida State 2024 recruiting haul included 23 high school players who ranked 12th in the On3 Team Rankings and 15 transfers that were tabbed 4th best in the nation.

On Tuesday a pair of transfers, OL Richie Leonard IV and RB Roydell Williams, along with wideouts Camdon Frier and Lawayne McCoy, early high school enrollees, outlined their journeys to Florida State and their initial impressions of Mike Norvell’s program.

Leonard, who lettered three years at Florida and started all 12 games last season, will cross-train between center and guard — his natural position.

Williams, who saw action in all 14 games last season for the Alabama Crimson Tide including starts in the SEC Championship and College Football Playoff, said the first coach to contact him when he entered the portal was Mike Norvell; he was won over by the energy and enthusiasm of Norvell.

Frier, whose father Matt and uncle Todd won national titles at Florida State in 1993 and 1999 respectively, feels the importance of maintaining his family legacy but says his relationship with Norvell played the biggest factor in his recruitment.

McCoy said that Florida State was his dream school and he believes he will received the best development in Tallahassee.

Florida State opens the 2024 season in the Aer Lingus College Football classic vs. Georgia Tech on Aug. 24 in Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland.

The Seminoles finished the season 13-1 with an ACC Championship and its first New Year’s Six bowl berth in 7 seasons.

Florida State has added 14 players from the transfer portal and a high school recruiting class that finished 14th in the 2024 cycle. The Seminoles also have a verbal commitment from Ivy League standout Jacob Rizy of Harvard; he is anticipated to enroll in the summer.
