Warchant TV: Power 5 transfers, elite prep RB open up about Florida State decisions
Florida State’s touted transfer class includes a legacy member who comes seasoned after a stint with SEC power UGA and another with family ties to the ‘Noles.
On Wednesday, EDGE Marvin Jones Jr., ATH Jaylin Lucas, DL Sione Lolohea and RB Kam Davis met with media and shared their initial experiences of Mike Norvell and Florida State.

Lucas, whose brother Ja’khi Douglas has been part of the Florida State program since 2020, pointed to the opportunity to play alongside him as a major contributing factor in his decision to enroll. Lucas said the initial plan from the coaching staff is to have him start his FSU career at running back.

Jones Jr., whose father Marvin Jones Sr. won the Butkus and Lombardi trophies in 1992 at Florida State en route to becoming an NFL 1st round pick, spent the past two seasons at the University of Georgia. His re-recruitment centered on Norvell and Florida State and he joked he did not check his social media when he entered the portal to entertain discussion from other schools.
Lolohea says he was looking for stability after the dissolution of the Pac 12 and current FSU general manager Darrick Yray provided a bridge to learning about the Florida State program. He points out the track record of transfer development at FSU as one of the main determining factors in enrolling in Tallahassee.
Florida State opens the 2024 season in the Aer Lingus College Football classic vs. Georgia Tech on Aug. 24 in Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland.
The Seminoles finished the season 13-1 with an ACC Championship and its first New Year’s Six bowl berth in 7 seasons.
Florida State has added 14 players from the transfer portal and a high school recruiting class that finished 14th in the 2024 cycle. The Seminoles also have a verbal commitment from Ivy League standout Jacob Rizy of Harvard; he is anticipated to enroll in the summer.
