One of the feel-good stories on the Florida State football team is no longer with the program.

Senior wide receiver Winston Wright Jr., who battled back from a devastating leg injury in the spring of 2022, has left the Seminoles, a university spokesman confirmed to Warchant on Sunday.

Wright, who was a star receiver at West Virginia in 2021, transferred to Florida State after that season and was expected to be one of the Seminoles’ top receivers in 2022. But he was injured in a serious car accident and had to skip the entire season.

Wright returned to full speed this spring and summer and was in contention for a starting role as a slot receiver this fall. But through five games, he had just four receptions for 36 yards.

Florida State has several other quality options in the slot, including freshman Destyn Hill and junior Ja’Khi Douglas.
