Georgia football moments and images that 'Belong in the Louvre'

Georgia football has some moments that belong in the Louvre.

Hell, the whole SEC does. I got this summertime SEC story idea from Peter Burns (SEC Network, Sirius XM Radio) on Twitter today.

(Highly recommend you check out the thread, it’s incredible.)

I could make a list about all the things coaches may talk about at SEC Spring Meetings in Destin, but it’s Monday. I’m smoking a brisket and my mind is still somewhere in the weekend.

Might as well riff off of a good content tentpole (some digital content lingo for you) and see what Georgia football’s ‘Louvre’ moments are.

The Hobnail Boot – Georgia football’s masterpiece

Everything about this moment equals iconic.

From the upset, to Munson, to a college football FULLBACK.

It’s the fist thing that always comes to mind for me.

Erk Russell and blood. So much blood.

There are many images of Erk Russell head-butting Georgia Bulldogs and losing the skin off his dome in the process.

I like the intensity in Erk’s glare, particularly, in this image.

Almost as if he’s saying, ‘My eyes are down here.’

One more Erk Russell artifact: A letter to Georgia football before the 1980 National Championship season

Who would have known then, that this letter would inspire so much greatness?

Not only did Erk Russell know how to battering ram his players, he also knew how to get through their skulls with humor.

These moments will hang on the walls of Georgia Bulldogs from Rabun Gap to Tybee Light and Hartwell to Bainbridge.

“That Dawg will bite you.”

To quote the late Lewis Grizzard.

Bubba.

Speaking of Lewis Grizzard… he deserves a wing all to himself.

An icon of Georgia football history, and required reading for all Georgia Bulldogs.

Larry Munson does, too

“Where’s my cigar?”

You read that in his voice, didn’t you?

One more from the latest breed of Georgia bulldogs to take the field of battle…

“Go… Dawgs.”

You read that in Larry Munson’s voice, too, didn’t you?
