Day two of 2024 NFL Draft could be a busy one for Georgia

The first round of the 2024 NFL Draft is in the books and two Georgia players are off the board. Brock Bowers was the first Bulldog taken, going No. 13 overall to the Las Vegas Raiders. Amarius Mims was next when Cincinnati chose him five picks later.

Day two could be a lot busier. Of the Bulldogs’ nine remaining NFL Draft hopefuls, most have at least a small chance of being drafted in the next two rounds. The two most likely former Georgia standouts to hear their names called on Friday are Ladd McConkey and Kamari Lassiter.

McConkey was getting a little first-round buzz late in the NFL Draft process and we’ve already seen that receiver is a very deep and talented position in 2024. A number of teams will be looking to beef up their passing games in the second round and McConkey would be a good place to turn with his 4.39/40 speed and electric route running ability.

Organizations are also looking for ways to stop the pass and that’s where Lassiter holds a ton of value. He was a two-year starter at Georgia and one of the most effective Bulldog cornerbacks in recent memory. Lassiter did not run on the fast Lucas Oil Stadium turf at the NFL Combine earlier this year, opting instead to test at UGA’s Pro Day in March.

Javon Bullard, after starting one season at STAR/nickel and another at strong safety during his time at Georgia, is another likely day-two pick. Bullard tested well at the NFL Combine and his film at UGA speaks for itself.

Three-year starting center Sedrick Van Pran-Granger is also in the mix to hear his name called on day two. He won’t be first center off the board with Tampa Bay selecting Duke’s Graham Barton in the first round, but Van Pran-Granger’s experience, raw tools, and leadership traits give him a chance to come off the board very soon.

Defensive back Tykee Smith and wide receiver Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint are probably better bets for day three, but they’ve got a chance to be selected in the next two rounds. Smith has a chance after a tremendous showing in Indianapolis earlier this year when he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.46 seconds. Rosemy-Jacksaint didn’t have as strong of a pre-draft process but is a big, physical receiver who has shown that he enjoys playing special teams.

Despite an injury-riddled career at Georgia, Kendall Milton also has an outside shot. He finished his Bulldog career with a bang, scoring 13 touchdowns in his final nine games. It was one of the longest healthy stretches of his career and he has managed to stay in peak form throughout the training process leading up to the draft. Will a team give him a shot on Friday?
