Gabe Hill, a four-star defensive lineman from Naperville North High School (Ill.), announced his commitment to Indiana football on Saturday via Instagram, giving the Hoosiers a major boost to their 2026 recruiting class.

Hill, listed at 6-foot-2 and 275 pounds, is rated the No. 261 overall prospect in the class of 2026, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. With his commitment, he becomes the highest-ranked player in Indiana’s 2026 class to date. He joins fellow four-star Henry Ohlinger as marquee additions in a group that now includes nine total pledges.

Hill chose Indiana over a long list of Power Five programs, including LSU, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Rutgers. He recently visited Bloomington the weekend of April 26, and said the trip played a pivotal role in his decision.

“I just like the program they’ve built so far — it’s highly competitive, highly aggressive,” Hill told On3. “They’re a team with a lot of ambition, a lot of things to prove, so it’s exciting. I love Coach [Curt] Cignetti. I love the way he presents himself, the way he does things at the program. His level of attention to detail, it’s just mind-blowing.”

Hill is expected to play defensive tackle in college but brings positional versatility across the defensive line. As a junior in 2024, he racked up 44 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, 10 quarterback hurries, and nine sacks. He will reunite in Bloomington with current Naperville North teammate Jacob Bell, a quarterback who signed with Indiana in the 2025 class.

With Hill on board, Indiana continues to build momentum under Cignetti, who has emphasized toughness and athleticism in his early recruiting efforts. Hill also joins fellow defensive line commits Rodney White and Blake Smythe, rounding out what is becoming a promising 2026 defensive front for the Hoosiers.
