Kansas State is back on the board in the 2024 recruiting class with the addition of Colorado-based linebacker Jake Stonebraker. And he took a partial shot at Buffaloes’ head coach Deion Sanders in the process.

The tag line used by the new Colorado head coach has been “I ain’t hard to find” and the tweet where he announced his commitment used the hashtag, “I wasn’t hard to find.” Obviously, that’s interesting and a pointed comment from the newest K-State commit.

Stonebraker’s commitment is the first 2024 commit for Kansas State since January 27 when Ryan Howard made the call for Chris Klieman and the Wildcats. And it came together quickly between the two sides as well.

K-State offered him on January 26. It has been exactly two months later and now he is the fourth Kansas State verbal pledge.

Stonebraker was in Manhattan in the Fall for a visit for the Tulane game on September 17. He returned to Kansas State for another visit on Saturday before the Elite Eight game in the evening and clearly it was a success.

During his season, Stonebraker ran for 968 yards and had eight rushing touchdowns and had 34 tackles and seven tackles for a loss as a linebacker. He was named to the first team of the All-Conference team and also chosen as an All-State pick.

K-State has a long tradition of Colorado natives on the roster.

Every recruiting class under Chris Klieman has seen at least one Centennial State native sign with the Wildcats. A large part of the success in the state is due to Kansas State offensive coordinator Collin Klein and his ties to Colorado.

Stonebraker is the second player from the state in the 2024 class, joining quarterback commit Blake Barnett. He joins a class with Barnett, Howard and Gus Hawkins and is the first linebacker commit and first addition on the defensive side of the ball.

On3 ranks Stonebraker as a three-star recruit and the No. 2 player in Colorado behind Barnett. Yes, the top two players from Colorado are committed to K-State. The Kansas State 2024 recruiting class is now ranked No. 31 in the On3 Consensus with the latest addition.

Stay tuned to KSO for more on what Stonebraker’s commitment means for the Wildcats, as well as a breakdown of his film.
