Of the visitors for the barbecue Kansas State hosted on July 27, four were already committed to K-State. Kyle Rakers, Gus Hawkins, John Price and Kaedin Massey were all in Manhattan. Massey was the latest to make his pledge to the Wildcats with his commitment coming on June 29.

The visit to the Little Apple was his second visit of the summer, the first being his official visit that took place June 23-25.

“My favorite part was being around the other commits and recruits,” Massey began. “I also enjoyed meeting Coach [Jerome] Tang.”

Tang left a major impression on the rising senior.

“We talked for a moment then took pictures,” he pointed out. “[What stood out about Tang was] he is all about being a cat.”

Massey is developing a strong relationship with the other 2024 commits.

“Our relationship is really good, we have a group chat so [I talk with] all of them,” he shared. “[I speak with] Gus and Kyle mostly.”

Being his second visit of the summer, there were a few differences about this visit.

“My sister got to come and it was really nice to feel more relaxed,” he opined. “I hadn’t seen Coach [Conor] Riley since I committed so we got to talk in person.”

It was also his first time in The Little Apple since committing. There are a few differences in going on visits as an uncommitted prospect as opposed to going on a visit committed.

“I just felt relaxed,” he added. “Other visits you are trying to think so much in order to ask questions and make comparisons.”

There were also uncommitted prospects at the barbecue. Two of the 2024 uncommitted prospects were Junction City linebacker Michael Boganowski and Iowa offensive lineman Grant Brix. It is not the first time the three prospects have all been in Manhattan at the same time.

“I really like Michael and his family. His brothers are like my brothers. Mike is always so supportive,” he revealed. “Grant and I got to really talk this time. I also met his father, Jim. Grant would fit in well.”

It has been exactly a month now since Massey made his decision to commit to the Wildcats. One thing really stood out about Kansas State over the other schools he was considering.

“The people make the place,” he pointed out.

There are a few things Massey would like to improve on before starting his senior season.

“I want to work on building strength and working on blocking techniques,” he concluded.
