NAME: Donovan McIntosh
RANKING: ***
CLASS: 2023
POSITION: Cornerback
HOMETOWN: St. Louis, Missouri
HIGH SCHOOL: St Mary’s
POWER FIVE OFFERS: Arkansas, Kansas, Nebraska

RECRUITING SUMMARY:

Donovan McIntosh was an early priority for Van Malone and Kansas State. He took a game day visit to Manhattan in November of 2021. In February of 2022, K-State pulled the trigger and offered the St. Louis native.

Kansas State took a massive lead upon extending him that scholarship and never looked back. That remained the case even when other programs became involved. Arkansas hosted him on a visit as well, but it did nothing to dissuade his interest in K-State.

McIntosh visited in March for a Kansas State spring practice and enjoyed his time. And though he didn’t rush to a college decision at the time, it cemented the Wildcats as the favorite. He visited Manhattan once again in June, the only visit he took over the Summer, and committed to K-State soon afterwards.

His verbal pledge actually started an explosive month of July for Kansas State on the recruiting trail.

EVALUATION

Like many high school cornerbacks, he is very raw. We’re not expecting to McIntosh to dent the depth chart instantly the way that Jacob Parrish did for K-State this past season. The Olathe product was the exception and not the norm.

However, he has the physical traits that transfer very well to the position at the college level. He’s long as heck. McIntosh is probably a legitimate 6-foot-2 and has the documented 100-meter track times that showcase elite speed.

His time in the 100 is 10.87 seconds and he has been clocked at 22.34 seconds in the 200-meter sprint.

Length and speed is a favorite of both head coach Chris Klieman and defensive coordinator Joe Klanderman when it comes to the secondary. Think about who they’ve added in the likes of Julius Brents and Will Lee as well.

With that being said, my player comparison for him might actually be Darell Jones. The length is similar. The speed is similar. However, even though he has a lot of footwork-related stuff to work through at the spot, McIntosh is still not near as raw as what Jones was coming out of high school.

Remember, we also have plenty of bowl coverage on the way for Big 12 Champion K-State as well in the lead-up to the Sugar Bowl matchup with Alabama, plus Jerome Tang and company are cooking and have shot out to an 10-1 record.
