Four-star wide receiver Hardley Gilmore will announce his college decision on Friday and Kentucky continues to trend as the favorite.

It was almost a month ago now that Gilmore locked in his commitment date of August 25. Even in the weeks leading up to that announcement, the Belle Glade (FL) Pahokee product had been considered a Kentucky lean. That remains the case with just a few more days separating him from making the call.

Gilmore is down to a group of just three finalists and officially visited all of them in June. He came to Kentucky first (June 16-18) before stopping at Central Florida (June 19-21) and finally at Penn State (June 23-25). Although Gilmore did take an unofficial visit to Miami (FL) near the end of July, the consensus is still that UK is the leader. There are currently three Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) picks logged in favor of Gilmore landing with the ‘Cats.

Originally from the class of 2025, Gilmore jumped up to 2024 in the middle of June, which is also when he scheduled his first OV with Kentucky. The 6-foot-1, 165-pound pass-catcher held strong as a four-star prospect despite moving up a grade, and is currently tabbed as the No. 282 overall high school senior in the country per the On3 Industry Ranking.

Notably, Gilmore has established a relationship with Kentucky’s class of 2024 four-star QB commit, Cutter Boley, who has been acting as a secondary recruiter for the program since pledging to the Wildcats in May — around the same time that UK offered Gilmore. Kentucky’s recruiting pitch for Gilmore has been centered around the idea of earning playing time as a rookie, similar to what sophomores Dane Key and Barion Brown did in Lexington as true freshmen a season ago.

Kentucky currently has 15 commitments in the class of 2024, ranking 36th in the country. David Washington Jr. is the only wide receiver in the class. The Wildcats currently have just eight scholarship wideouts on the roster in 2023. UK needs to add multiple wide receivers this recruiting cycle. Gilmore is a key target and a recruiting battle the ‘Cats need to win.
