Tavion Wallace is considered one of the top linebackers in all of high school football. His older brother, Trevin, played three seasons at Kentucky and is about to embark on his journey in the NFL.

Will that connection be enough for the Wildcats to land the younger Wallace sibling?

On Thursday afternoon, On3’s Hayes Fawcett revealed that Tavion Wallace is down to 12 finalists, Kentucky being among the group. Wallace is rated as the No. 2 linebacker in the entire 2025 recruiting class and is slotted at No. 44 overall by the On3 Industry Ranking.

The 6-foot-1, 215-pound junior out of Jesup (GA) Wayne County is also considering Tennessee, Louisville, Georgia, Michigan, Missouri, Florida State, LSU, Auburn, Florida, South Carolina, and Arkansas. Nine of his top 12 options are from the SEC.

Out of high school, Trevin Wallace was an equally talented prospect. He was ranked as a four-star and a borderline Top 100 recruit before signing with Kentucky at the last second. He racked up 166 tackles during his three seasons in Lexington, including 18 for loss in addition to 10 sacks. A full-time starter for UK in 2023, Wallace is projected as a Day 3 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

All of the above stats are more than enough reasons for Kentucky to try and keep the family ties rolling. Tavion Wallace has visited campus multiple times already and has built a sound relationship with defensive backs coach/co-defensive coordinator Chris Collins.

“My brother went there, so it’s always been love with them for the past three years. The coaches treat me just like they treat him,” Wallace said about the Wildcats last month. “I know if that was the school to choose, I’d be safe and it would feel like home up there in Lexington.”

That being said, Kentucky certainly has its work cut out for it (a new NIL plan announced Thursday morning might help that, though). Florida State has been the school to monitor in this recruitment. The Seminoles have already received one RPM pick (which was logged in January) in favor of landing Wallace. He currently has four official visits scheduled in the coming months, none to UK.

  • May 31-June 2: Arkansas
  • June 7-9: Georgia
  • June 14-16: Florida State
  • June 21-23: South Carolina

As it stands, Kentucky has five commits locked in for 2025. The Wildcats added its first lineman on Wednesday with the addition of three-star IOL Tucker Kattus. Four-star WR Quintin Simmons, three-star QB Stone Saunders, three-star RB Isaiah West, and three-star QB Brennen Ward round out the class.
