The first wave of July commitments have come and gone. The Wildcats did not fare too well, going 1-3 over the July Fourth holiday weekend. Kentucky’s football recruiting fortunes could drastically change in the near future. Here’s who Mark Stoops and Co. can get on board before the the team reports for fall camp in August, along with a few long-term targets in Kentucky’s crosshairs.

Short-Term Recruiting Wins

Avery Stuart — After whiffing on Conyer, the timing is perfect to land a Top 250 DB from Alabama over a traditional powerhouse like Florida State. He’ll announce his decision tomorrow, July 6.

Ja’Keem Jackson — Snatching a four-star cornerback from Florida’s backyard would be oh so satisfying. However, it might be a tall task. He’s announcing his decision July 28 and it’s unlikely Kentucky will get an official visit beforehand.

Kendrick Gilbert — The four-star end is a good scheme fit in UK’s 3-4, he has some big names on his list, a teammate Kentucky loves (2024 QB Danny O’Neil) and he could wrap up Kentucky’s recruiting efforts on the defensive line in the 2023 recruiting class.

Koby Keenum — Louisville fans have gotten awfully chesty during their recruiting resurgence. This would not send them back to Earth, however, in no world should Kentucky lose recruiting battles for coveted offensive linemen. The pedigree of the Big Blue Wall needs to carry more weight than flashy NIL money from Adidas. He decides this Saturday, July 9.

Anthony Brown — Cincinnati appears to be Kentucky’s top contender for the four-star wide receiver. The Bearcats have been a nuisance throughout the 2023 cycle. They’re due for a humbling. He announces next Saturday, July 16.

Big Picture, Big Fish

Arvell Reese — The biggest fish still swimming in Ohio, whatever it takes to beat Ohio State for this top 200 linebacker, Kentucky should do it.

Grant Godfrey — Another two-horse race between Kentucky and Tennessee, the Cats need to reload their arsenal at linebacker during this recruiting cycle. To do it at the Vols’ expense would be *chef’s kiss*.

Karmello English — If history repeats itself, oh, what a Merry Flipmas it will be.

An Awesome Transfer Portal QB — Will Levises don’t grow on trees, but if there’s another backup quarterback that can develop into a star, it’d be nice to see them join the Kentucky football roster prior to the start of the 2023 spring semester.
