The NBA Draft is a week from Thursday, and even though Davion Mintz probably won’t hear his name called, there’s a good chance he can land a spot on a summer league roster. Today, Mintz was in Washington to work out for the Wizards along with Jules Bernard (UCLA), Theo John (Duke), Alex O’Connell (Creighton), Nate Roberts (Washington), and Au’Diese Toney (Arkansas).

Last week, Mintz worked out for the Brooklyn Nets. In two seasons in Lexington, the former Creighton Bluejay averaged 9.8 points per game, hitting 36.1% from the outside for a total of 100 three-pointers. He led the team in scoring in the 2020-21 season with 11.5 points per game and upon returning to Kentucky for a final season, became a candidate for SEC Sixth Man of the Year. Coming off the bench, Mintz averaged 8.5 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in the 2021-22 season.

A fan favorite, Mintz and his emotional support dog Ghost partnered with Richmond Road Veterinary Clinic, the first-ever player-pup NIL deal in college basketball. Now, in addition to preparing for his professional basketball career, Mintz is also making a career as a French Bulldog breeder, selling Ghost’s first litter of puppies. A few are still available if you’re looking for a furry new friend.
