First, John Calipari took his new Kentucky Basketball team to Drake’s house while the Wildcats were on a summer trip in Toronto. Now, Kentucky is one of five institutions cool enough to be selected for Drake’s limited-edition apparel release through his clothing line, October’s Very Own.

Today, Drake and October’s Very Own announced a new collection through an NCAA partnership with Kentucky and four other schools. We, of course, care only about the Kentucky connection, but for the sake of storytelling, the other schools are North Carolina, Alabama, Memphis, and Texas. Alabama modeled for the announcement.

By the looks of it, each school’s collection will include at least a letterman jacket, a hoodie, shorts, and a hat, all featuring the university and OVO logos.

The collection is set to release this coming Friday, September 29.

Team Practice at Drake’s House

In case you missed it: During an off-day at the 2023 GLOBL JAM in Toronto, Calipari followed through with a promise to take his 2023-24 Kentucky Wildcats to Drake’s house. Nicknamed The Embassy, the $100 million Toronto mansion hosted the entire team and guests for a pool party and afternoon cookout. The team also got some shots up in Drake’s indoor gym, dubbed The Sanctuary, to stay in rhythm between game days at the offseason international basketball showcase. Kentucky finished 4-0 in Toronto, plus the unbeatable story of swimming in Drake’s pool.

The Drake connection goes even further back than this past summer. The popular entertainer has been a special guest at multiple Big Blue Madnesses, a fan at several of Kentucky’s NCAA Tournament games, and he got so into recruiting that the university sent him a cease-and-desist letter for taking pictures with recruits while representing UK. (It’s a violation.) John Calipari even attended Drake’s graduation ceremony when Drake got his high school diploma.

Calipari will certainly get some of the new OVO/UK gear, but will you? I think the owl will look good on you.
