One week from tomorrow, you can enjoy a (legal) cold beverage at a Kentucky Football home game. To prepare the Big Blue Nation for this momentous occasion, UK Athletics shared the new beverage and concessions offerings at Kroger Field for the 2023 season. Beer — both domestic and craft — will be available, along with seltzer products.

There will be one craft beer stand in Section 19 and a “War Wagon” with ten taps under Section 16 in addition to several stands throughout the stadium serving both draft and canned beer. There are also two Kroger “Grab N’ Go Beer & Snacks” stands in Sections 22 and 30. Here’s the selection:

  • Bud Light
  • Michelob Ultra
  • Bud Light Seltzer
  • Yuengling Lager
  • Yuengling Flight
  • Stella Artois (Craft Beer Stand)
  • Big Kahuna or Neon Big Hug (Craft Beer Stand)
  • Country Boy Cougar Bait (War Wagon)
  • Lexington Brewing Kentucky Tangerine Cream Ale (War Wagon, September Only)
  • Lexington Brewing Kentucky Vanilla Barrel Cream Ale (War Wagon, October & November Only)

Sales will have a limit of two (2) per transaction. Identification checks will take place at each transaction. For football, alcohol sales will conclude at the end of the third quarter. No word yet on prices.

Here’s where the beer stands are in the stadium:

UK also shared this Q&A about alcohol sales at games covering just about any question or concern fans may have about alcohol sales at games. You can read it in its entirety here, or check out the highlights below:

  • Why alcohol sales now? “In recent years, the norm has shifted, and fans have come to expect beer as an amenity at entertainment events.”
  • There are no plans for an alcohol-free seating section at this time, but beer and seltzer will only be sold in designated locations.
  • Aramark, UK’s concessions partner, will be monitoring consumption to help ensure a positive fan experience.
  • The decision was NOT strictly made based on revenue. “In making our decision, revenue considerations come in a distant third to the student and fan experiences. The revenue raised will not be a significant piece of our funding.”

Mitch Barnhart also discussed the decision to allow alcohol sales at home football games during his appearance on Kentucky Sports Radio this morning (starts around the 11:30 mark):

Enjoy your beverages responsibly. Go Cats.
