Good morning, folks! It’s finally Will Levis Day. On Thursday night, the Kentucky Wildcats quarterback will learn where his career as a professional begins. The 2023 NFL Draft is set to begin this evening at 8:00 p.m. EST on ESPN, ABC, and the NFL Network. Where will Levis land? Well, that’s still the biggest question of the day as we’re less than 12 hours away from hopefully hearing his name called sooner rather than later.

In the leadup to tonight’s draft, every NFL draft expert is going to have one final take on where they think Levis will go. Without diving into every single one of them (and boy are there a lot out there), we can look at least look at a few fresh ones from this morning.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr., who has been a big Levis believer throughout this draft cycle, has the former Wildcat going to the Indianapolis Colts with the No. 4 pick, which might be the most talked about landing spot for him. Peter Schrager of NFL.com also has Levis going to the Colts at No. 4 while Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports projects Levis will fall to the Houston Texans at No. 9. If you search through enough mock drafts, you’ll find just about every outcome possible for Levis, but the Colts at No. 4 certainly does feel like the trendy spot.

Levis isn’t the only possible NFL selection from UK though. With seven total rounds of picks and the draft running through Saturday, the Big Blue Nation will also hope to hear names such as RB Chris Rodriguez Jr., DB Carrington Valentine, and OT Tashawn Manning called out from the podium. Will that be on night one? We’ll find out soon enough. A tougher question might be if you think Levis is shown eating a banana at some point throughout the broadcast. Seriously, that’s something you can bet real-life money on.

As always, we’ll have plenty of immediate coverage from all of tonight’s draft festivities. KSR’s resident football writers, Nick Roush and Adam Luckett, are already in Kansas City, MO ready to break it all down for our viewing/reading pleasure. The next 11 Personnel will surely be a good one…

A message from our friends at SERVPRO

Now a message from the great team at SERVPRO of Lexington. They tend to fire and water damage, mold remediation, storm damage, commercial clean up and demolition.

They are locally owned and operated so they are part of your community.

The team at SERVPRO knows that a disaster doesn’t strike at convenient times. That is why they offer 24 hour emergency service.

Our team at KSR recently had a first hand account of their highly trained restoration technicians. While we didn’t experience an emergency, we had some unwelcome visitors to our office (BIRDS!). The office space didn’t have ideal work conditions as the birds made a mess all over the furniture, floors, and carpet. We called SERVPRO and they were at our office in an hour. We were on their schedule the next work day. The managers and technicians were top notch professionals. The office was absolutely spotless. They also wanted to make sure they reviewed the space with us before they left to ensure our satisfaction.

We highly recommend the team at SERVPRO for both commercial and residential services. Give them a call at 859-225-3193 or visit https://www.servprolexingtonky.com. Tell them KSR sent you. That’s SERVPRO of Lexington, faster to any size disaster!

Kentucky softball blows out EKU

Kentucky softball won in non-traditional walk-off fashion against Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday night. With the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the fifth inning, senior Princess Valencia stepped up to bat for the first time in her UK career and knocked a single down the right side to score Kayla Kowalik as Kentucky run-ruled EKU 10-2.

Valencia, a senior who transferred in from Western Kentucky University this season, took a 3-2 offering from EKU pitcher Brooke Davis and dropped it into shallow left field off the bat, immediately scoring Kowalik to end the game on her swing. 10 runs by the ‘Cats were the team’s most since April 12.

Sahvir Wheeler off to Washington

Sahvir Wheeler will team up with another former Kentucky Wildcat next season. On Wednesday afternoon, Wheeler committed to Washington, where he’ll play alongside his old teammate Keion Brooks.

The announcement came during an appearance on “The Chop Shop,” a YouTube show based in Houston, Wheeler’s hometown. Kansas State, Georgia, Texas A&M, and Baylor were also rumored to be in the mix.

“My old teammate Keion Brooks is there as well, so it’ll be a reunion,” Wheeler said. “My three biggest factors were style of play, that’s something I mentioned earlier that every recruit has to look into; my roster, who I’m going to be playing with, what guys are coming back, how can I fit with them, how can they fit with me, how can we compliment each other; and NIL. That’s the space we’re at in the new day and age where that stuff is important.

“As far as style of play, being able to play fast, being able to play with a lot of freedom, being able to get a lot of guys the ball, high-possession game — because that’s where I’m at my best, being able to attack early on offense, made baskets, being able to push it down their throat on a miss.”

Wheeler entered the transfer portal on March 27, ending his two-year career at Kentucky. He finished his time in Lexington in the top five of total SEC assists (656), 1,107 career points, and 11 double-doubles in 85 starts. As a Wildcat, Wheeler averaged 9.1 points, 6.3 assists, and 2.5 rebounds per game while shooting 43.2% overall from the field in 51 total appearances, 43 being starts.

Good news on the way for Kentucky WBB?

It’s been a quiet start to the offseason so far for Kentucky women’s basketball, but if we’re to believe Kyra Elzy’s Twitter account, some good news could be on the way. The program’s head coach sent out a cryptic tweet on Wednesday night with the hashtag #CommitToIt which typically accompanies some sort of commitment for the ‘Cats.

The player to keep an eye on? 6-foot-4 class of 2023 stretch-forward Janae Walker out of Georgia. She visited Kentucky over the weekend and is an under-the-radar prospect who recently wrapped up a spectacular senior season at Sandy Creek High School that saw her average 20 points and 15 rebounds per outing.
